Dive into the American Heritage with this US Navy vintage diving helmet. Made out of copper and worn in the 1800s to repair ships, docks, early submarines, the helmet was high tech in its day because it allowed the divers entire head to be protected while doing dangerous and heavy work. Free flowing gas provided air so workers could stay submerged for extended periods of time, the helmets weighed 55 pounds and were used until World War II.
